Will frequent cleaning shorten the life of my carpets?

No, quite the contrary – cleaning will make them last longer. Most soiling in a carpet is sand and grit caught between the carpet fibres. When the carpet is walked on, these sharp grains are like little razor grains which cut the carpet fibres and that is why your carpets get thinner with age. Our cleaning processes remove the sharp grit, together with dust mites, pollens, allergens and other spills, stains and contaminants.

How often should I have my carpets cleaned?

Carpets and upholstery are some of the most expensive investments in your home. To protect your investment it is wise to have them professionally cleaned at regular intervals and this will extend their life as well.

Most carpet manufacturers will require an annual professional clean to maintain the warranty issued to you. The following can be used as a guide:

Recommended Cleaning Frequency Guidelines:
2 persons 18 months
With young children 12 months
young children and pets   6-12 months
Retail shops and offices 6-12 months

How long will it take my carpets to dry?

In most cases your carpet will be dry enough to walk on in a couple of hours after cleaning. To prevent dye stain migration we protect your carpets by placing foil or plastic squares under legs of your furniture. We recommend you leave these in place for 48 hours after cleaning.

Do I have to move furniture?

No, our regular price includes moving, cleaning under and replacing most sofas, chairs, end tables, coffee tables, standard lamps and all other light items of furniture. For liability reasons, we do not move entertainment systems, pianos, china cabinets, wardrobes and other heavy items left in place. These items can be moved upon request, and there may be an additional charge. We ask that you tidy away toys, breakables and other small items before the cleaning technician arrives.

Should I apply Scotchguard to my Carpets, Upholstery and Rugs?

Yes, Scotchguard is strongly recommended as it can prevent many permanent stains; assist in resisting traffic area damage and make future cleaning more effective. Regular foot traffic removes much of the factory protection from your carpet (if applied). Leaving your carpet unprotected could allow permanent stains, premature wear and cause unsatisfactory appearance.

Why do some carpet cleaning companies cost more than others?

A general rule is "you get what you pay for!" Many cleaners within the industry advertise a cheap price in order to get into your home, where they do a less satisfactory job and often add on extra costs in an attempt to increase their profits. We may cost more but are upfront about prices. The higher charge reflects the equipment, cleaner used and our high quality clean, the actual amount of time that is properly required to clean your carpets professionally and the expertise and knowledge of the technician. A key concept to focus on is "value" rather than cost alone. For most people it is worth paying the extra money to ensure the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your carpets will be cleaned professionally.

Additionally, our industry, unfortunately is like some others in that there are a number of 'Rogue Traders' these cleaners often will use little if any product in the clean to reduce costs, will not take the correct amount of time to clean thoroughly, but more importantly will not carry the required legal insurances to enter into your home and will definitely not carry 'Treatment Risk Insurance' should something go wrong in the process.Try to keep away from free phone, 0844, 0845 and mobiles, you could be calling anywhere in the UK, go local.

Any honest carpet cleaning company should be able to give you an exact price quote over the phone?

We sincerely wish this were true! However, we price by the area, so we initially need an accurate measurement of the area which we will do on a survey. Whilst we are there we can also inspect the carpet for construction and fibre. There are many different types of fibres and different constructions and therefore different methods of clean to obtain the best result. Then there is the degree of soiling and if there are any stains and type of stain. If we are inspecting a carpet that hasn't been cleaned in ten years, it will take an awful lot longer to clean than a newish carpet. There is also the amount of furniture that needs to be moved and replaced; again this affects the length of time needed to do the job properly.

Do you clean mattresses?

Yes we do. They are cleaned in a similar way to an upholstery clean and in addition sprayed with an anti-microbial which protects against mites and dust mites. Stains on mattresses are notoriously difficult to remove, however, they will be cleaned and sanitised
